April Ipsy Unboxing

Why Hello Beautiful!

Today I wanted to share with you my very first Ipsy bag! I had subscribed for the Ipsy bag back in February and was put of the waiting list. I am so excited to have finally gotten my first bag!

First, let me start off by telling you how much I love the products that came in my bag. Take a look at this Flipagram to see a preview of the contents of my bag.

For starters let’s talk about the bag it came in. Isn’t it so cute? The combination of the wicker/hemp with the colors was super cute.

First I want to talk about the Hikari blush. I loved the coral shade of this blush, it is perfect for spring. It is a little lighter and brighter than what I would normally wear but it is a good switch for the spring.
Next up is the LATHER ultra light face lotion. Thankfully this product came in its own ziplock baggie because it exploded in the bag. I wrote Ipsy and thankfully they will be sending me a new one. Thank goodness they are because I love this moisturizer. In the packaging it indicated that it was a non-greasy everyday moisturizer. Indeed it is non-greasy! After application if gives you a matte smoothness feeling!

Then I got this KCO Colors lippy. It is great for everyday use, however it is not super pigmented. The application is very light. I swear Ipsy knows me because the muave tone is totally me. I haven’t quite built up the courage to wear lippy shades other than muave and plum. This lippy was definitely in my comfort zone!
My absolute favorite product in this bag is by far the perfume! This JOR’EL PARKER fragrance in Feminina is just delightful. I do not know how to describe the scent other than sweet and pleasant. It has a slight floral hint to it but not super flowery that is over powering. This was a favorite of Mr.QD as well! I think this is the first scent that we both love!

Last but not least are these fun NUDE Dude eyeshadows in Flirty. First, let us talk about the packaging! I love the graphic on the packaging, it makes me giggle every time. Again talk about Ipsy knowing me so well… This bronzy color is an every day shade that I wear. This eyeshadow has a nice shimmer to it. It is not super pigmented unless applied with a wet brush.

I hope you were just as excited as I was to unbox my first Ipsy bag! So far so good! I was very pleased with the products that was in my bag. I cannot wait for the next bag! I love getting packages in the mail, so this will be so exciting. This Ipsy subscription is actually a birthday gift for my birthday, so I feel like it’s Mr.QD getting me a birthday present every month! It is going to be super fun!

Do you subscribe to Ipsy? If you do, please comment below how you like it? If you don’t, use my referral link to start! Hope you do decide to join in on the fun!

Hello Beautiful: How To Clean Your Make Up Brushes

Today I wanted to share how I clean my make up brushes. I try to clean it at least once a week but realistically it happens once a month (soooo bad)!

Here is what you will need…
1. Baby Shampoo
(gently washes the bristles)
2. Antibacterial Soap
(sanitizes your brushes)
3. Olive Oil
(keeps your bristles nice and soft)

Materials F
Here are the steps…

Cleaning steps F1. Pour in your ingredients. (2 parts oil, 1 part soap, 1 part shampoo). Then swish your brush in your mixture.
2. Then swish it around your hand and add a little water to work it in your brush.
3. Squeeze soap mixture out. Then add some water and keep squeezing soap out.4. Then swish around your hand under warm water
(not hot because you don’t want to melt the glue inside your brush)

How to dry your brushes properly. This is an important step because you do not want water to get stuck in the metal part because it will make the glue that holds the bristles all yucky. So you want to make sure all the water is out of there.

dry11. Tap your brush, then rotate it around as your are tapping. Make sure to do this with bristles facing down.

dry22. Then when you leave them to dry be sure to prop your brushes up, again bristle side down.

And there you have it! That is how I clean my make up brushes!

Hello Beautiful is Back! – Oil Pulling

Hello everyone! Today to continue our Hello Beautiful series and to debut it here for it’s first time I would like to introduce you all to Oil Pulling!oil pulling I know it sounds a bit bizarre, but don’t knock it until you try it!

[What is it?]

It is an ancient practice of swishing oil in your mouth for about 20 mins. to pull out toxins from your body.

[What are the benefits?]

You will be quite surprised as the list is fairly long.Benefits of Oil Pulling

[What oil to use?]

I use Organic Coconut Oil from Trader Joe’s

[How do you do Oil Pulling?]

Take about a teaspoon to a tablespoon of oil and put it in your mouth. Then for 20 minutes you will be swishing your oil around in your mouth. I swish and make sure it goes through my teeth and also make sure I gargle it in the back of my mouth.

[Any Oil Pulling tricks?]

  • Set your alarm or timer for 20 minutes (not your stop watch, the anticipation will kill you)
  • Put on a 30 minute show while you are oil pulling
  • Or pull while you are doing a small taks (ie. folding laundry, answering emails, washing dishes, etc.)
  • Obviously don’t pull at a time which will require you to talk
  • Don’t spit your oil down the sink, instead in the trash

What introduced me to oil pulling was my search for a natural remedy for gum inflammation. I had just got dental work done and my gums were just super sensitive and irritated from the dental work. So I researched and came across oil pulling. Withing my first try I had already seen a significant difference, the inflammation in my gums were instantaneously gone! Since then as I’ve learned of all the benefits of oil pulling I haven’t stopped. I also have TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) and I truly feel like oil pulling has reduced my symptoms significantly.

Hope you try it and please let me know how your Oil Pulling experience was!
